Has anyone tried Magic Jack phone?

Has anyone ever tried the Magic Jack instead of a land-line phone?

  • Does it really work? I was thinking about getting one but if it does not work good I don't want to waste my money.

    i had one several years ago - i ran it on a dedicated PC and had no problems... since then however many people have been complaining about calls to certain destinations (within the US) not properly terminating - ie, getting a reorder when they call into certain NPAs or exchanges... for supplemental service or to use to cut your long distance bills down.. or when you are traveling to call back home it is great... but as a land line replacement, not so much... here is the review that i made about the MJ service http://nyphonejacks.blogspot.com/2009/12/magic-jack-review.html i would recommend looking into other VoIP services such as nettalk, ooma or vonage..

Well, I wouldn't use it to replace your home number.. It has it's problems... I had issues with no service, echoes, cut-offs, incoming problems.....(I also don't like leaving my computer on all the time for it to work for incoming calls...) I still refer to it as a 'toy;....Remember, you get what you pay for. There is no 'Magic' for me in MJ..

I have one in my computer case that I use from time to time. I use it along WITH a land line phone, not instead of. It's not a device I'd use to replace my home phone service. It doesn't work so well when my laptop goes to sleep.

we have one n it works pretty well weve had very few problems wit it we have had one problem but i dont kno if its jus us or if they all do it. wenever you talk on the phone itll become staticky if u do alot online at the sametime
