Can a land line number come up on caller id, if the call is dialed from a cell phone?
-
Someone I know called me who told me they were in Texas....but the number on their called ID was their landline phone in Virginia. When I asked them where they were, they said, Texas. When I asked why their land line number came up on called id, they said, "oh I had my calls transferred to My cell, so sometimes when I dial, my home number comes up". Is this even possible?!...sounds fishy to me...can anyone help?

Answer:
Hi, Just to clear this up, EVEN if he had a call divert on either his home or mobile, the ORIGINATING number will show. As an example: Caller has call divert on this home, to divert calls. That caller then rings his home number, it would divert the call to the new destination but it would be his mobile number that came up on caller ID, as this was the number that make the original call. May not be want you want to hear but that's the way the system works.

Most likely you're getting lied to. Or the guy has a home/mobile package with either sprint or verizon. And, the home number MIGHT show from all phones listed on the acct. ...but I doubt it.

sorry but that is some major B.S. the only way to get a land line # to show up on your phone is to call from it !

I agree I used to work for att wireless there should be no way for anyother # to appear other than the one they are calling from. Even if they had call forwarding on, that's when calls are being forwarded to Them, not when they are making Outgoing calls to You. If you feel the need to spy, get a hold of their cell phone bill they would show roaming out of their area- dispite their plan and if they are on a national plan, it shows where you go.....
