Do phone companies charge Long-Distance for incoming calls?

Ive never actually had a home phone, Ive just always used cell phones and now I have a home telephone but family and friends are always trying to keep in touch but Im a bit afraid that my bill will be high. Do most companies charge long distance for incoming phone calls? I use cox cable phone. thanx!

Answer:
NO you are NEVER charged for any incoming calls on your home phone... the only time you would be charged on a home phone if some one called you collect, or if you had an 800 number...
