Sprayed water onto portable phone, but now volumne has to be on max. Is there a way to repair my GE 5.8 GHZ?

It sounds like you accidentally clogged the tiny little holes where the sound comes out with the handsoap. CAREFULLY try to clear these holes with a small pointy object such as a toothpick. Don't poke too hard or you may damage the transducer. (speaker)

Water is a conductor of electricity . when you got water on your phone what you should have done is immedatly shut it off and removed the battery then let it dry or takin a blow dryer to it . whats happened is the water has shorted out your volume control although it still could be that theres water in it . Shut it off remove the battery and let it dry , put it in the sun or use a blow dryer but dont use the highest heat setting , you want to dry it not bake it . When you remove the battery leave the back cover off and aim the dryer there .. You can shake it a bit and let it sit upright to let the moisture drain to the bottom where there ussally are no circuits . Let it sit for a while and then try it .. It can be repaired but with the price of new cordless phones is it worth it ? Most shops charge you 40 bucks just to walk in the door .. in the future use a cloth with some windex on it and wipe it off dont ever soak it with any liquid . oh your muffled sound is likly because of soap or water in the speaker hole find the hole and take a tooth pick or some other object in it BUT dont go too far with it or you will damamge the speaker or Mic but probaly the drying will cure this Electronics and water DO NOT MIX all products come with users mauals and almost all of them provide proper cleaning instructionsm and a warning that water or moisture may cause electrocution Contact the company , who knows maybe they will send you a new one .. I'm not sure but I would guess it probably can not be repaired. Just a tip though... next time this happens, avoid the hairdryer suggestions. Take the battery out and place the phone and battery in your car, on the dashboard w/ the defrost on.
