Sony Bravia LCD tv no sound?

What LCD TV is best: Sony? Samsung? LG?

  • Hi there! At the moment I have a 32"LCD Sony Bravia Tv. However, I would like to get a bigger one that is 40" or 42" that still offers quality sound and picture. But I have two questions: 1. Is LCD better than plasma in order to watch films, dvds or play wii? Do LCD tvs provide a clearer picture? 2. What make (and series if you know) would you recommend? a) Sony seems to be the best in quality and sound but only offers the 40". b) Samsung -no idea but seems to have good reviews. c) LG have loads of models but I have read some bad reviews. I would really appreciate any feedback from you. I am sure that some of you guys have had the same dilemma :) Cheers

    For sizes 42" or larger, definitely go with a Plasma TV. And no...LCD's are not better then Plasma when watching movies or games! Plasma TV's have the highest 'native' contrast ratio's(40,000:1), giving them the blackest blacks and more vivid and rich looking colors! (Most other brands only list their TV's dynamic contrast ratio...which is a useless number that you won't see in a home environment!) Plasma's also have the fastest response times(.001ms) and fastest refresh rates(600hz), making them the best at producing the sharpest picture possible for fast motion content like sports, movies & gaming! Not sure why, but it maybe has something to do with quantity rather then quality! Only Pioneer and Panasonic have remained strong in the performance and reliability categories! in my opinion LG with the XG processor, after the first 42 i bought i was sold, since then i got another 42 and a 32 for the bedroom

Samsung LCD is great. Equal to Sony. LCD is better than plasma.

Plasma is still the better technology, If...(and it's a big IF) you can control the room light. As Kryptonite is Superman, light is to Plasma; an exceptional Plasma HDTV can look less than ordinary if too much light gets to the screen. If you will be introducing your HDTV into a room with windows, you should look at a LCD with at least 120HZ refresh rate, since you will be gaming with your HDTV. If you are putting the HDTV in a room where you can control the light conditions, get a Plasma. Just be careful with the Wii, as it is still possible (although difficult) to get image retention with a Plasma. For LCD have a look at the Samsung's B640, B650 and B750 series. With Sony, Look at the V5100 or maybe the Z5100 which is a little $. These HDTV have the best picture and features for the $, depending on your needs. Their best feature is they all allow you to connect to the internet, a huge feature going forward, called (DLNA). If you are going to go with a Plasma, hunt down a Pioneer, while you still can!
