Why has my lcd tv gone wrong after 3 days?

  • I have just bought a 32" HD LCD TV from Hughes electricals. It has been working fine for the first 2 days but today it has gone wrong. Whilst i was playing my xbox360 the screen went into a sort of negative mode! everthing that is dark has gone white! and it wont turn back.....what the hell has happened????

    Sounds like a major problem with the set. You could try completely removing it from the mains, and taking out and putting back in all connections (HDMI, scarts etc) - after leaving it for ten minutes, but as it is less than one week old I would contact Hughes first thing Monday morning and ask for a replacement set, or a refund if you wish. If they try any "we will need to have the set repaired" talk simply refuse this. I had problems with a Sony LCD last year and the retailer tried to say after only one week that the set would need to go away for repair. This means the set would be away for up to five weeks and would have replacement parts put in it. Hardly satisfying when a "new" set was bought. Hopefully you should not have any problems and they will arrange an immediate replacement, but if they try to refuse this, stick by your guns and if the worst happens telephone Consumer Direct/Trading Standards, who will put them right straight away.

What has happened is that your set is rubbish and needs to be returned to the store without delay. If you like the style of set get another one, but I would get get my money back and get a TV from another shop.

Whatever the problem is, doesn't really matter. It's 3 days old. It is covered by a warranty. Take it back to the shop. They must replace or repair the TV, or give you a full refund.
