How do I set my plasma tv picture?

Which tv is better for me? LCD, LED or Plasma?

  • So I'm looking to buy a tv here in a few months and I've been searching around the internet to see if I can't find a tv that's right for me. I'm currently borrowing my younger brother's 32" Vizio 720p LCD(old model) and want a bigger tv, perhaps a 55". I play alot of videogames and watch quite a bit of movies. I here when it comes to LED Samsung is the most praised. I've actually seen the difference between a LCD and a LED and it seems the LED is much more brighter and clearer not only in picture but color, the thing is LEDs are more expensive and I'm trying to find a big TV for $1,000 give or take $100. However just when I seem to have my mind set on an LED I come to find out that Plasma is the better tv for gaming. I'm pretty confused as to what tv I want now. First it was going to be a 55" LG 1080p LCD then I decided on a 46" Samsung 1080p LED and now I find out what I mentioned above that plasmas are the way to go when it comes to gaming. I was quite impressed as to how an LED looked compared to an LCD, but if I go LCD I can get a bigger tv 55" or even 60", and as for plasmas I've never really payed much attention to them so I don't know how they compare to an LED. If I could just get a little more clarification on the 3 different types of tvs that would be great, and if you have a suggestion for me as to which tv you think is better for me that would be helpful. Thanks

I highly recommend you go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on tvs and many other products for the home theater. Plasma is still considered to have the best picture quality of all tv and it is less expensive. You do not have the problem like the LCD or LED tv on motion blur. To reduce the motion blur you need the faster refresh rate of the 120HZ which also raise the price of the tv. Samsung and Panasonic are the most reliable brand in the market today. Panasonic is the only Plasma tv that home theater magazine recommends. LCD and LED tv are much brighter in picture than the Plasma. Keep in mind when viewing a tv at retail store, they make adjustment to those tv on display to make it look good especially for the one the store wants you to buy. Your home is not as well lighted as those in a retail store and those brightness can give you a head ache when watching tv for a long time. Keep in mind you get what you pay for. Hope this will help you out.

LED is slim and light, but basically still the same as an LCD....(Slow response time.) Either get an LED with at least 120 hz. of refresh rate, or get a plasma, which has no problems with motion blur, extreme viewing angles, good blacks and colors, but usually only available over 40 inches in size. The LED would also use a bit less power, although not significant.....

I would go with LED it's thinner and it's edgelit and your correct the colors are brighter but plasma there shouldn't be any problems with anything at all. But LED the refresh rate get 120 because the human eye can see a difference between 60 and 120 but not between 120 to 240 and some plasma's have a 600 Hz refresh rate that's great but I don't see a point if you can't see a big difference. I'd go with LED and as for brand go with Vizio or Samsung I have a Vizio LED
