Mercedes E320 has a bluetooth device fitted but not usable, whats it for.?

  • My 2004 E320 has a bluetooth unit fitted somewhere on the car I can see it with my mobile but it wont let me pair with it. does not appear to be a menu for it. Is it usable? if not whats its purpose for it. Mercedes

  • Answer:

Well, it could be several things. If you have recently bought the car, maybe it's just that somebody left their bluetooth device in the car somewhere, and that's what your phone is picking up. But that's unlikely. It most likely is the car's bluetooth. But since it doesn't let you pair with it, it's probably broken or glitching, and is just sending out a signal but can't do anything else. You should go to a dealer and they will definitely find the problem.

Are you sure there is a Bluetooth adaptor in the vehicle? Don't confuse the dial pad on the radio to mean that the vehicle is phone ready. All that means is that the vehicle is ready to accept the OPTIONAL, dealer installed phone kit. This phone kit has to be installed first before a Bluetooth puck can be installed (it would go into the centre armrest) and only then can you pair a Bluetooth-enabled phone to the vehicle.

the mb bluetooth device (puck) should be located in the center console, if it is there and it is a mb device, you press the star on the puck, it should start flashing, than try connecting your phone to the puck, if a password is requested, the password is mbusa (62872)
