Overheating 1996 Honda Accord?

My 1996 honda accord coup is overheating.i,ve already put a new radiator and thermostat in.?

  • Answer:

First thing - make sure that you bled all of the air out of the cooling system after you refilled it. If you've got an airlock it will overheat. Check the ignition timing. Check the water pump. Check the coolant level in the radiator. It could be that the waterways in the engine block are clogged. This sometimes happens if you run the car with just water instead of the proper coolant/water mix.

Check your water pump. You can do a simple hand test first, start the car and get it to normal op temp. Grab the hose coming out from the top of the radiator. You should be able to feel it flowing through the hose, if not, your pump is bad. Oh and be careful that hose may be hot.
