Overheating 1996 Honda Accord?

Honda Accord 1996 problem with door locks?

  • I have a 1996 Honda Accord with power locks and I'm having an issue with them. This EXACT same problem (details and all) also happened on my 1993 honda accord so here we go. 1) The rear passenger door lock will not respond to electronic controls in either the driver or passenger side, however it does appear that the actuator is operating. 2) The driver's door will not lock (key, manual, or electronic) when the door itself is open. If you try to lock it, the lock tab will go down about half way, then pop right back up. It has no problems locking when the door is closed. Any assistance would be very much appreciated!

  • Answer:

You need to take the door panel off and see what is going on inside it sounds like it is getting stuck on something inside or the solenoid is not working good luck.

Well, as for 2), that applies to ALL cars, it stops you locking the keys in the car it's not a "problem" at all! 1) Sounds like a faulty solenoid, either dirty, completely faulty, or just catching on something. You should take the door card off and give it a check to see whether it's working at all, or whatever.

My Honda Accord does the same thing (1998) when it gets really cold it could just a 'fault' in accords because my civic didn't do this. It usually goes away when the car is warm or I reset the radio code by detaching the battery.
