How do you change the light on a Dodge Neon trunk?

2002 Dodge Neon Engine Light on?

  • I have a 2002 dodge neon. I have never had any problems with the car until now. Lately the engine light keeps coming on. First I let a family friend look at it and he couldn't find anything wrong other than I needed a oil change. He proceeded to take it to auto Zone. The computer Kept saying something about transmission fluids being either low, low quality, or a wire isn't connected . How much does it cost to have transmission fluid changed? Any ideas on what else cound be wrong with it just in case the the computer was just wrong.

  • Answer:

The last thing you mentioned with the clock and radio needs to be addressed! Everyone else missed that detail! Sounds like a short or bad connection! Get that fixed and have the codes cleared in the computer and see what happens from there.

You could just be due for scheduled maintenance. How many miles are on your car? I would suggest taking it back to AutoZone and writing down the actual code that comes up on their computer scanner. Then come back here so we can help you better diagnose the issue. I seriously doubt there is a transmission fluid level sensor in a 2002 Neon, but anything's possible. That's why I'm leaning toward a "scheduled maintenance" notification instead.

I am not sure you were given correct information. I did not know the computer provided transmission fluid information. Check to see how much transmission fluid you have. You may just need to add transmission fluid. Read the owner's manual. It will tell you how frequently you need to change the transmission fluid. My car says never. Had it over 200,000 miles. To erase the check engine light, disconnect the battery for a couple of hours so the computer can reset. If the light comes back on take it to a mechanic for repairs.

It is likely an electronic input(sensor) setting the code, you need to take to a reputable shop and have a trained technician diagnose the problem. modern transmissions have very long service intervals so the fluid/filter are unlikely culprits.they will connect a scan tool and determine the code that is illuminating the light.

check your transfluid if you dont your trans could be destoryed im sorry but the dodge is a piece of **** im sorry but they are pron to lots of problems this will not be your last

i dont know how the cumputer can check fluid quality, but its a good idea to have it changed at 30,000 miles. just a gues but i think around 69.00 to change? Also, use only ATF+4 fluid.

A transmission filter change will cost about 50 bucks. To get the light off you need to disconnect the battery for about 15 minutes.

its really easy to change the fluid. you could do it yourself if you really wanted to. any other problems????.....sometimes the transmission sensor goes faulty

WHAT WAS THE EXACT CODE??? It has nothing to do with changing fluids.
