If a spider bit my nose and it has been 24-48 since i started feeling pain, redness and swelling does it mean?
-
does it mean that it will heal on its own or would it just be the beginning of the symptoms. i looked at the symptoms to the worst case scenario and it said that death only happen to young children and tissue damage is very rare, but some beginning signs is redness and it feels like a bee sting. then somewhere it mentions cell membrane damage which i read can cause the cell to swell but i dont know if that would cause my whole nose to swell or just the individual cells. then the other thing is it said that most cases it with get firm and heal on its own over the next few days or weeks. this confuses me since the worst case scenario of the place i am living is a brown recluse and if you can heal yourself from the effects as long as you dont show the major symptoms why is it important too go to the doctor. i dont go to the doctor unless something is unbarable and this pain is nothing compared to some other pain i have to deal with, so i need help. note: i may be a bit paranoid since i have a massive fear of spiders, all thanks to a canoeing accident. i used to be facinated by spiders but after a lil near run in with a banana spider i have been terrified.

Answer:
How do you know it's a spider bite? Of the hundreds and hundreds of painful, red, swollen lumps I've had on my face (including my nose, and I mean that in every way you might think) during my life, not a single one has been a spider bite. The vast majority were bacterial infections, some were wasp stings and a couple were insect bites. I would say that unless you actually have evidence that a spider bit you, you might want to go with those odds instead. Just wash it and keep it clean and it should clear up in a few days. If it starts looking nasty for any reason, or gets very painful, then you probably want to get it checked out. Bad nose infections can be a problem if left untreated.
