Long Distance Relationship for teenagers?
-
Last summer I met a family friend who is a year older than I am. We saw each other a couple times over the summer and got along really well, but he had a girlfriend back in his home state. Over the past year I haven't been able to stop thinking about him and we've recently started talking again. I've met his family in person and he has since broken up with his girlfriend. The problem is that he lives in another state. I really like him, but I'm worried about long distance relationships, especially since he would be my first boyfriend. I really like him and I don't know what to do. Please help!

Answer:
i understand how you feel. i live in new york and i have a boyfriend all the way in cali. having a long distance relationship requires a lot of trust, patience, and endurance. For some people it a great way to strengthen the relationship because their bond is so strong and only grows stronger when they go apart. For others it seems like torture and they end up breaking up. I'm not really sure which of these two you're condition will end up falling under but if this is your first boyfriend, i advise you strongly not to go through with this. I know it sounds like you love him a lot but a long distance relationship might end up causing you a lot of distraction and grief even. You're still young (i'm guessing like a teenager?) you'll meet a lot of other people so i suggest that you don't focus your life too much on things like maintaining a longdistance relationship in the end though, the decision is up to you. talk it over with him and see if you can reach a consensus good luck to you

dont do it. ive tried long distance and it sucked. always worrying if hes being loyal, never being able to see him except a couple times a year or on webcam, and if he gets grounded or something and his phone and computer are taken and he cant tell you then you think hes mad at you and you get all upset he hasnt said a word to you for a week lol its bad dont try it, find a nice guy that goes to school with you and just be close friends with him

Melissa is right. I;ve tried long distance several times. It doesn't work. Stick with meeting and getting together with boys who live in ur area:P
9 outta 10 long distance relationships dont work...sorry!

Hello, two summers ago i met a guy too. I liked him allot, he came over for boxing day and we decided to date, he lived on a different island. Every second weekend after that boxing day he stayed over at my house for two days. Long distance can work if your relationship is strong enough, and if you get into a good routine. Problem is it is very hard, I only got to see my boyfriend every two weeks. Since then we have broken up, not because of long distance though. If you really like maybe even love this person I think you should go for it, but before you get into it realize what your getting into, discus it with the guy your interested in and your parents, before anything make sure you have a planned routine, or life like this will not be fun. I hope i helped.
NO for a first relationship it should be the best ever that you can get. What I mean is someone at your school, neighbor hood, close by, you see him everyday, and most of all someone you can just be with whenever. Don't go out and think you can handle long distance as your first its something that is hard and unless you plan to go out there OFTEN meaning not just a few times a year I mean like monthly going out there and that's a lot of money.
