Long distance relationships work?

  • I really want to know if a long distance relationship works? Ive been talking to this guy for a month now and his from canada and im from illinois. We met over omegle ( i know your probably saying alot of crap about how some of those sites you cant be sure about people) but the first time we met we connected like magnets. We talked and talked hours over the phone. We seemed to really like each other and have so many things in common. When we talk its like were a couple but we havent made that official. Lately everyday we say that we love each other and that we wish we could live close to each other. He might come visit me over the summer and i hope he does. He seems to be scared of a long distance relationship because he says we wont be able to close to each other but isnt that how it sort of works? even if your miles away from that person you still love them. He also told me that if he came to visit me his scared of trully falling in love with me and then leaving back to canada. Im scared of that too.I trully love him and he loves me, We always say how we never felt like this for someone else. So please help how i convince him not be scared of a long distance relationship.

    In order for a long distance relationship will work is if the love is so strong and both person have a good communication. It's like when you built a house in a good foundation, very strong if there is storm chances are that the house still standing. RE: on line relationship, I don't know for some people it may work. Tell him not to be afraid and give it a try. He seems to be afraid of the unknown.

Generally speaking, no, they don't work. You know the type of work it takes to keep a relationship together and healthy when you live near each other. It's hard but it's fun and rewarding. Long distance relationships take 2 to 3 times more effort, communication, and trust just to keep it at the same level as if you were living close by.

they can work if you want them too --- it helps if you are able to be with each other eventually --- until then use every means at your disposal to keep in touch ---- email IM skype even snail mail (getting a hand written love letter is the best) ---- how you meet is not relevant its only that you have met someone ---- best wishes

You can't really convince him. Long distance relationships are pretty hard, but if you truly love someone and they truly love you then both of you will do whatever it takes to be with each other.

Im sorry from experience, long distance relationships dont work </3 it really sucks but maybe it can be different for u guys... Just tell him how u feel about it and go from there... Hope it works out for u guys :)

To be honest long distance relationships really don't last, EVER! You'll eventually get tired of not being able to be together especially when you see other couples around. You only have like a 5% or 10% chance for your relationship to work long distance but from my experience I say you two should just be friends because I was ok being in one like you seem to be but being in a long distance relationship is hard and you will always wonder if maybe he has someone else on the side since he can never see you, trust me I been there I just think you should think about this long distance relationship before you fall too hard and wind up getting hurt.
