26 hours in Doha, where to stay and what to do?

• on our way home from Asia next July we will stop in Doha for a long layover (26 hours). we get there at 1pm and leave at 3pm the following day. where should I book the hotel for that night? somewhere central so that we could reach the main attractions somehow quickly. suggestions on hotel names? we were thinking to spend no more than €100. also, i know that july will be very hot but we want to take advantage of the time we have there to see as much as possible. what are the must see in Doha? one last thing, it will be my fiance 28th birthday on the night we spend in Doha. is there somewhere nice I could take her? some nice reustarant/experience? many thanks hope someone could help me!

  I live in Doha! If you are flying with Qatar Airways, they might give you a free hotel room if there is no earlier connecting flight. Go to their website for more information. 100 euros will not get you far in Doha. Its going to be very hot, so make sure to wear cool, comfortable clothes. The dress code is shorts/skirt that are no shorter than 1 inch above the knees and shoulders covered. Hotels: Intercontinental Doha The City Courtyard Marriott City Centre (I recommend this for tourists) Sheraton (If you want to have beach access but also be near the city) Things to do (pick and choose): Museum of Islamic Art Souq Waqif (traditional market) Katara Beach The Pearl Desert Safari Corniche (the hotels I suggested are near) Dow Ride (boat) Villaggio (Venice themed mall) City Centre Mall (one of the hotels I said is attached to it) Birthday Ideas: Porto Arabia (The Pearl) Seafood restaurant at the Beach (Katara) Canal boat ride and dinner at Villaggio Mall (the cheaper option) Arabic BBQ (Souq-traditional market-this will be a fun experience for her) The best way to get around for tourists is taxi. There are also buses. A metro is under construction, so that option is out. Have fun!
