Looking for hotels in downtown dc for thanksgiving weekend. Family of four, preferably near metro center/l'enfant plaza metro station. Any reccomendations? We're looking for good hotels (we're thinking about staying at grand hyatt but were courious if theres any other hotels) budget from $100-$150 per night. Answer:
try www.tripadvisor .com. I use it when I travel all the time. There are many good hotels in DC, not sure around the plaza with kids, except the hyatt. I know that is a bit pricey. The tripadvisor will let you poke around areas of the city, it takes a second to figure out how to use it, but once you do, you will use it all the time. also, try the forum on ther for DC. search your question and I bet its been answered. or just google hotels in Washighton dc, check them out, then go to trip advisor for reviews on the hotels your considering from folks just like you. Good Luck and have fun!

We stayed at the Holiday Inn in Rosslyn / Key Bridge (within Arlington, VA) in February. It's just a block or so to a Metro station, and then one stop later is Georgetown, DC -- and just a couple of more stops to Smithsonian/The Mall (maybe a ten minute ride) and all it has to offer. Check the Metro map and you'll see how close the Holiday Inn is to downtown DC. The hotel's area was safe enough that we felt comfortable walking with our kids to local restaurants for dinner and back/forth to the Metro station. The price was ~110 per night with a AAA discount. The cost included free parking (very rare within DC) and use of the indoor pool (which my kids loved!). Note: the website says that the parking garage has a height of 6'3" so cannot accomodate trucks/vans, but we had absolutely no problem parking our minivan there. There was a cafe-type restaurant (being renovated while we were there) and a sit-down restaurant on-site. Enjoy your trip!

Try the embassy suites. The one near the convention center is about $150 per night and they offer breakfast. If you have triple A you may even get a cheaper rate.
