Sunscreen for face...?

  • Sunscreen for face...? I'm looking for a good sunscreen for my face. I have oily skin, so most sunscreen just makes it worse. Nearly every sunscreen I use on my face makes it look and feel greasy, and then when I sweat, I get a gritty, gross feeling that I can't stand. Most of the time, this isn't a problem since I live in Buffalo and don't wear sunscreen on a daily basis. (Usually it's when swimming or out fishing, and even then, I often have a hat.) However, I am planning a trip to Orlando in August when the sun and heat are brutal. I am looking for a sunscreen that is non-greasy/oily and gives good performance. I have a few in mind, but I'm (always) open to suggestions that have worked for you, especially if you have the oily skin problem. I use the Neutrogena spray sunscreen for my body, and it works fairly well for me. I'm not looking for a body sunscreen, but I'll take suggestions for those if you want to give them to me. I used to use it for my face, but I don't care for it. I have also used the Banana Boat Sport sunscreen stick, and have found that it feels like I've spread greasy chapstick on my face. I like it for ease of application (no messy creams), but the feeling is gross. I have looked at the Neutrogena Face cream (and a knockoff brand from Rite-Aid). I am also interested in using a Neutrogena Moisturizer with SPF, but I'd have to reapply frequently, so I'm not sure if I should be adding the extra moisture to my face every couple of hours. (I only apply moisturizer once or twice per day.) I also saw a Supergoop Sunscreen stick today at Sephora, and I was curious about that. I tested a little of it on my hand, and it didn't feel too bad. If you have had any experience with that, let me know. I realize that this might not be the best category, but then again, there's a lot of people who use a lot of sunscreen in Orlando... Thanks for your help!

    I tend to have an oily face & don't enjoy adding more grease to it either. I like using a sunscreen called No AD. I find it too be a little thicker than other sunscreen, so it doesn't give me that smeary feel. It's sold at Walmart, drug stores & super markets. I burn very easily & have found this product to work very well.

I have oily skin to. What I use is one of those facial sunscreen sticks. I only apply it to my nose and forhead, then I use Clinique makeup that has a built in sunscreen. This works really well for me. We are at the theme parks a lot and living in Florida, it is important to protect your skin.

I would stick with something like Neutrogena which is hypoallergenic. It shouldn't affect your skin. Coppertone's Water Babies line is hypoallergenic. That's a good kind, or any of the "baby" sunscreens which are going to be more gentle since they are for babies. Sunscreen will give you cancer faster? Wow, somebody has no clue what he is talking about!

Sunscreen will not give you cancer and you won't have gnats on your face lol. I've been down to the Orlando area and that didn't happen! What I suggest is to wash your face really, really well twice a day and then put maybe like a water based suntan lotion and wear a hat. This way, you won't burn, but won't feel greasy at the same time.

Sunscreen is really bad for you. By august you should have a decent tan and all you'll need in Florida is a hat. Besides, the gnats in Florida will stick to that nasty sunscreen and you'll have dying bugs all over your face.
