    Yes its a good school for its specialties. It is a private school. Xavier University of Louisiana is located in the heart of New Orleans, minutes away from the city's business, cultural, government and recreational facilities. Enrollment at Xavier's College of Arts and Sciences is approximately 2,500, along with an enrollment of approximately 590 at the College of Pharmacy, and approximately 200 at the Graduate School. Founded by Saint Katharine Drexel and the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament in 1915, it has the distinction of being the only historically Black and Catholic university in the western hemisphere. However, its doors have always been open to students of all races and religious creeds. According to the Association of American Medical Colleges, Xavier ranks 1st in the nation in placing African American students into medical schools, outpacing such prestigious national competitors as Harvard, Yale, Michigan and North Carolina, and such prominent HBCU’s as Morehouse, Spelman and Howard.

Generally it has a very good to excellent reputation in the pre-medical and pharmaceutical programs, decent to very good reputation in its other schools. Yes, private. Another answerer correctly pointed out that it is a predominantly black college, but since the Civil Rights activist days, Xavier has been more open, to the point that if you want a degree in Pharmacy, you go to Xavier regardless of your race. (Just like M.I.T. and engineering, or Harvard for Medical School.)

I agree with the person above. I have graduated from Xavier University and am now in Pharmacy school. They have excellent teachers and really produce some great health professionals. I am proud to be a Xaverite and a future pharmacist. If you have any more questions email me at [email protected]

Xavier is a prdominately black private university. It is an EXCELLENT unversity with the only pharmacy college within the state. It is also noted for the most pre-med students getting admitted to med. school.

IT IS private and IT IS ok...there are definitely many better schools in the U.S. and even locally.
