Can you use the Mexican consulate ID in Las Vegas?

Using a US passport as photo ID in the United States, specifically Las Vegas?

  • I am most likely going to Las Vegas in about 3 weeks. I don't currently have a drivers license and to get an ID card will take 2-3 weeks. I have been using my passport around town as an ID and have not had any problems with it, but I know that certain nightclubs, bars, etc. can be very picky about the types of ID that they accept and I don't want to take any chances. I'm not a drinker, so I'm not interested in being able to buy liquor at stores or in the bars, but I do know that you need to be 21+ to be in casinos, nightclubs, etc. Specifically, my husband & I are planning to go to a nightclub to see a rock band and while I've tried to contact them to see if using a US passport for age verification would be a problem, I've yet to get a response. Has anyone run into trouble doing this in Las Vegas? I know that they are probably used to getting foreign passports, but will they question why I don't have another ID card/drivers license? I noticed you can use a US passport to get a marriage license in Las Vegas, but I'm not fooling myself that every club has the same criteria as the city government.
