Is a piece of the Berlin wall worth anything?

Is there anything worth to see at Checkpoint Charlie?Are there any remains of the Berlin Wall open to tourist?

  • I heard the Wall was already torn down during the German reunification and am not so sure if tourist can nowadays still see it.

    Hello, Our family has been there 2 years ago. You can still see some pieces of the wall througout the city.Checkpoint Charly lost a lot after the reunification. It's just a tourist attraction-you do not get anymore this chiver running up and down your spine. I personally would skip the checkpoint- you can see wall at severall places (which you can look up in a travel guide or map). Berlin is a great city and there are many more places worth visting.

Hello! What ever you do, do not miss the Checkpoint Charlie Museum!! It is one of the best I've seen and tells you a lot about the escapes from citizens of the former East Germany. Very interesting. The point itself is nothing compared to the old one, used during the cold war. I have been to Berlin twice before 1989 and seen the devided city, and I went back a couple of times after it was reunited. There is so much to see and do in Berlin, get a good guide book and enjoy your stay.

There are some small parts of the wall around. I thought it was worth seeing the museum, the checkpoint, have your passport stamped, take in the history. I wouldn't go to Berlin just for that though.
