How do you travel from Shanghai to Chongqing?

Shanghai to Chongqing??

  • In January I will arrive in Shanghai at 9:30 pm and am looking for an airline that will take me to Chongqing. If I must spend the night in Shanghai is there a reasonable accomodations near the airport.. Information has been difficult to find.. Can anybody guide me in the right direction.. Jim

  • Answer:

Check flight shedules in advance through this web-side: http://english.ctrip.com/ (or http://www.shanghaiairport.com/en/index.jsp) There are flights going to Chongqing after 9:30 pm NEARLY every day. (10.40PM) You have the possibility to buy your ticket at the airport, but probably not at the price given by Ctrip. It´s a little bit risky so. Probably you won´t get the cheapest price. Beside this, it depends on how many hours flight you have already behind you, you will be very tired. I recommend to book your hotel also so Ctrip and buy your flight ticket for the next day at the hotel. There are several hotels around Pudong Airport. I used Ctrip web side several times and are only booking my hotels through this side inside China and from abroad. (it´s just a pity the english version isn´t as comprehensive as the chinese) Don´t worry about your trip. You have plenty of choices in China. Hope this helps,

which airport do you fly into? most domestic flights go out of hongqiao airport...and international flights usually us pudong airport. i think i took air china from shanghai to chongqing in the past...i dont really remember. try to contact some international agencies such as STA travel. it's a student travel agency, but they also are great when it comes to helping others needing assistance. pick up a lonely planet china book and they will have listings for various agencies to contact. trust me, the lonely planet has helped me soooooo much while traveling.

I think most domestic flights are on air china, look for schedule for them at www.airchina.com.cn I used them on one of my trips from Beijing to Chongqing.
