Answer:
If you already have Microsoft Word, or Open Office Writer, or any other word processor, you don't need to install any new Chinese software. All you need to do is to activate the East Asian language support under Win XP. After you have done that, you can also type Chinese words in your Yahoo mail, or Outlook Express, or whatever email platform you use. How to activate:- 1. Open the Control Panel dialog box by clicking on the Start button, and then click on Control Panel. Click on "Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options." Next click "Regional and Language Options" icon to open the Regional and Language Options dialog box. 2. Once the dialog box is opened, click the "Languages" tab. 3. Check the box for "Install files for East Asian Languages" under Supplemental language support. Then click OK. 4. Once the language files have been installed, click "Details" button to open the "Text Services and Input Languages" dialog box. 5. Under "Installed Services", you will probably see "EN English (United States)". Now, you would want to add Chinese language. So, click "Add" button, scroll to "Chinese (PRC)" and this as an additional input language. Click "OK". 6. Click "OK" to close the dialog boxes. Towards the right of your taskbar, at the bottom of your screen, you can see the language bar option. 7. To test that you have installed it, try opening either your email or MS Word programs. Change the EN to CH. Now type in the Hanyu Pinyin of the word that you want. For instance, if you want to type the chinese word of "good", the Hanyu Pinyin will be "hao3". I shall now switch to CH to type the word. This is what you get - 好 .If that is not the word you want, putting your cursor underneath the character will reveal a list of characters with the same pronunciation. Choose the one you are looking for. 8. That's it. You are now able to type chinese words in your PC. If you want to type in other East Asian languages like Japanese, use the same method but choose Japanese as your input language. Have fun.
