How many English LanguageTV channels are there in Mauritius? Is there satellite or cable TV in Mauritius?

Of the population of 1.2 million only 180,000 are on the net; 713,300 have cell phones and 359,000 home phones. The Internet code is mu. Check the home page of Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation. It looks like there is one channel fed from the BBC among the nine offerings, not including radio feeds. No charges or fees listed. The economy is upscale for that part of the world so prices for communications, unless nationalized, will be close to what the traffic will allow.

yes there are satelite tv station in Mautritius in many languages including hindi/urdu/arabic/english/french...there are a few companies like muti carrier services and the MBC offering multiple channels for a subscription costing around 30$ up...there a no cable tv servcies in Mauiritius however.Most channel are digitalised nowadays..that;s about it..no need to check on the CIA for simple facts like this..That's what we are here for...I am a naturalised American but I think i know enough of my origin :)

It depends if you go through the local channels or satellite. As far as the local channels go, which is free of charge, they are all mostly in french, however sometimes they play english shows. Also there are times of the day where they play BBC World which is wholly in english. On the other hand if you go with satellite TV, then you have a whole variety of english channels, including news and sports channels that you can opt for. I dont know of the price off the top of my head. If I were to guess I would say about Rs 1000+ per month
