Do roller skates (not in-line skates) run true to size?
-
I am looking to buy a pair of roller skates (not in-line skates) from ebay. I am a size 8.5 and I was wondering if anyone knows if they run true to size. I was thinking about getting a size 9, to accomidate for the thick socks that I will be wearing.

Answer:
You are thinking right, you should have a half size bigger because of the socks. Have fun.

a 9 will be good but make sure you check and see if they are women or men roller skate.

It all depends on who makes the boot and the width of the boot. If you can email the seller and ask their foot size/width if these boots are not new. I am a size 7 shoe and my skate boots are a 6.5 because of the width. These boots are probably 20 years old now and I have been looking at replacing them with ones that can be heated so that they form to your foot. Good luck and have fun skating :)

Roller skate sizes are just like normal shoes, as the size that fits you can vary depending on where the shoe was made. Here's a tip I used when buying my skates online. My skates fit perfectly. Put down a piece of paper & trace both feet WEARING the socks you intend to skate in. Once you have the tracings down, measure the length with a ruler from the biggest point (usually the big toe) down to the heel. Use the biggest measurement you have obtained, as one foot is usually a little bigger than the other. Convert the length to INCHES: http://www.onlineconversion.com/length.htm Then go to the skate manufacturers website to check their measurements table (most good skate manufacturers such as Riedell have a table like this) to see what the best size is for your length. A good website that has most of these measurements handy is: http://www.skates.com/Fitting-roller-inline-skates-and-size-charts-s/12.htm Good luck & happy skating! :-)
