  • Answer:

Stand with your feet together, back straight and shoulders back. Keep your chin up and look straight ahead. Depending on your coach's preference, begin with your arms either stretched above your head or down at your sides. Swing your arms and sit back, as though sitting in a tall chair. Keep your back straight and your hips pulled in. As you sit back, you will feel as if you're going to fall. This is the time to jump. Throw your arms over your head and jump forcefully. Jump backward instead of straight up in the air to avoid landing on your hands and knees. Look for the floor as you momentarily land in a handstand. Keep your arms straight and strong. Landing a back handspring with weak arms will cause you to collapse when your hands hit the floor, killing your momentum. Snap your legs down and stand tall to finish.
