How to train for swimming?

How can I train to be a lifeguard next year if I don't know anything about swimming?

  • I really want to be a lifeguard, are there any courses that train you to become one?

  • Answer:

Lifeguards take a course to become lifeguards. If you don't know anything about swimming, though, you may have trouble. You don't have to know the stroke names or the proper way to do them necessarily, but you need to be able to swim well enough to keep you and another person (who may weigh a lot more than you) afloat while you tow them to safety.

You have to be a certified life guard; therefore, you must take a course that will certify you. Check your local area for classes and regulations. I hope you enjoy being a life guard...

You *have* to take a course in order to become a lifeguard. You have to be a certified life guard; therefore, you must take a course that will certify you. I always thought you had to be 16 also, but apparently that's not always true..? Check your local area for classes and regulations.

maybe check your high school, (if your that age) for fliers. go to the office and ask about lifeguard training. or serch around online in your city about lifeguard training. hope this helped :)
