Keeping my head warm after swimming?

Head rush while swimming?

  • Typically when I swim, I get a head rush every time I stand up, but it disappears when im horizontal and actually swimming. It became especially bad one time that it got so painful to stay standing/resting, i had to keep swimming cuz that was the only way to make my head stop hurting. And afterwards, when i got up to go back to the lockers, it hurt so much i had to stay keeled over for a good 5 minutes before i could even lift my head up. anyways, my question would be, why does this happen? is it because im over-exerting myself? how can i prevent/lessen it?? thanks!

I definitely think you might be over exerting yourself. When was the last time you did any sort of exercising? Sometimes after you do a lot of strenuous exercising thats not part of your daily routine, it causes your oxygen saturation in your blood to decrese pretty fast. These head pains that your experiencing I think might have a lot to do with that. Not to mention while your horizontal, gravity is pulling down equally on every part of your body, and when you stand up after being a consistant horizontal position, gravity is now pulling on you vertically, pulling all your weight from your head down to your feet. hydrating before you exercise should definitely help this issue, and make sure if youre training for something, that you take in a lot of calories. Swimming burns a ton of calories and carbs in a single workout. I hope this was somewhat helpful for you, good luck!
