Is there anything that would prevent me from entering international water territories on a kayak?

Trouble With Water Entering Head When Swimming?

  • I must admit that im not the best swimmer, but Im not the worst either. Whenever I swin under the water / Dive or even submerge my head, water starts entering my ears and I get a very unpleasant feeling. In most cases all the water doesnt come back out of my ears. This then becomes a problem, several hours after I swim (doesnt matter if it a pool sea or lake) I will be totally dry at home and the water will randomly run out of my nose like a pipe and It is very uncomfortable. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to prevent it? Swimming is the only sport Im reasonably good at (I suck at everyhing else like football and basketball etc) But because of this problem I rerely swim. Please advise Thanks Dean

very good question, i think its down to the swimming style, e.g. if you breathe to the side in front crawl and slap your head back into the water then you are surely more likely to get water in your ears

Dean, next time you're at a drug store, look for two items, they should be close to each other on the shelf. First, find some ear plugs. There are some that are made of wax and mold themselves to fit your ear canal to keep water out. Second, find a product called "Swim Ear". It's a solution you drip into your ears after you swim to get the water out.

You have tubes that connect your ears to your nose and sinuses and it sounds like the water pressure is causing it to get past some of your barriers and into your sinus cavities. Simple simple solution? Swimmers earplugs.

Buy some swimming ear plugs and a nose clip, sorted!

Hello2010

well... this happens for many possible reasons. 1- you might clean ur ears too often, leaving no enough wax inside to seal them when underwater. 2- it might be just your body. some people can't handle the slightest water pressure, so it enters through the ears easily. 3- it could be (make sure don't just take it from me) a problem with ur ears, let a doctor see them for u. a way to stop it is by putting in those little rubber pieces used to close ur ears when sleeping. use them in the pool. usually when it happens to me i keep my head tilted to one side for a while so that the water exits, but coming out of the nose... i have no idea what that is!
