How should I prepare for Lifeguard Training?

Lifeguard training…Brick test help?

  • I have tried to take the lifeguard course twice already. The first time I took it, I passed the brick test, but she kicked me out because she didn't think that I was going to be able to lift her out of the bottom of the deep end. The second time I didn't pass the brick test (this was at a different pool) and so I was refunded 80% of my money. The lifeguard class is coming up for a third time, and I know I can do the brick, I just need help with carrying it on my chest and stuff. I'm not incapable, but I'm really short and don't have the best body structure. Don't preach to me about how I'm too short because this one girl in my first class was as short as me AND had scoliosis, and she was able to pass. So any tips for the brick test? I really want to pass the course this time. I've wanted to be a lifeguard for over 2 years now, and if I passed the lifeguard course at the facility that i'm taking it at, I would get a job immediately. So please help guys. Any tips? This really means a lot to me. Thanks (:

  • Answer:

when holding a brick all you get to do is use your feet because your arms are occupied. the best way to get good at moving without your arms is to go into your local pool and take a kick board and just kick. whatever stroke works best for you is a good choice
