Can you change from a standard headset to a integrated headset?

I have an incomplete CaneCreek integrated headset installed, where can I find parts to fit it?(Crown Race etc)?

  • I hate integrated headsets, but I have acquired a Giant Bowery with part of one installed. I'm wondering where I can find a crown race and upper portion for my headset, if at all. Are any other brands compatable? I don't really want to go through the trouble of buying and installing a new integrated headset.

  • Answer:

Try your local bike shop. They should easily be able to source any parts you'll need (just take the bike with you). Usually small parts are inexpensive at shops (may need to be ordered), they won't charge much markup on it. You can choose to simply buy the part from them, or that and let them install it as well, for a nominal fee (includes a guarantee that it's installed correctly). Remember, it's always best to support your local shop (when the price is right!). The next option I'd recommend would be to contact Cane Creek directly, with bike model/year, as well as headset model. They should be able to source the part for you as well, but probably at a greater expense than a bike shop would charge, not to mention shipping. Good luck.
