Can you file for unemployment benefit if you was fired from your job?

  • i just got fired today due to the fact that I was 30 minutes late due to a police road block during traffic. the company said they had to fire me because i was still on my 90 days probational period of employment and couldn't be late for any reason so after working for them for 87 days they just fired me today. i reside in the state of virginia,never filled for unemployment before in my life and not sure if i can. Unfortunately for me i depend on paycheck to paycheck with means by the end of this month i'm going to be homeless for the first time in my life and also lose my car since i haven't finish paying for it, any help or advice will help because i'm right now in the state doing something harmful to myself

You can file, but you won't get it. You can't receive it if you've been fired.
