Does a Uniform Traffic Citation raise your insurance?

  • I live in Florida. And today I got a uniform traffic citation for going 15mph over the speed limit. It is the only time I have ever been pulled over. My record is clean. Ive never been in any trouble with the law. Im 18. I am just asking because it is a citation. Not a ticket. Or is it the same thing? And are there any courses I can take to get the points off my license and lower my insurance. My main concern is my insurance. So please answer that first. Thank you guys so much!

"And are there any courses I can take to get the points off my license and lower my insurance." In "most" cases you can elect to go to traffic school and keep the points off your license. Whether a single ticket will increase your insurance is dependent on your insurance company. Since you are young, and it's for speeding, it *probably* will, so if you can get the court to give you traffic school, go for it. Richard
