As long as you keep your head warm then you'll be warm... nonsense say the scientists?
-
We have long believed the old wives tale that most of the bodies heat is lost through the head and that providing you keep your head warm then you will be warm. But alas this flawed knowledge actually originates from an American Army survival manual circa 1950s. Scientists now believe this to be bunkum and that no more than 10% of the bodies heat is lost through ones head. But what keeps you warm on those coldest days, wearing a hat ? some decent gloves ? serious woolie socks ? or some other essential covering ? what is your survival tip for keeping warm ? And how much did this stupid research cost? What a waste of money. I would love to know what the Inuit have to say about this one, I somehow think that they will disagree after all they are the true experts on keeping warm. If a titfer's good enough for them then its good enough for me and mine. A wee dram helps as well.

I have to ask myself how long did it take and how much was spent in coming up with this little gem. I think that if your head's warm you in turn will think you're warm. Bung me a fiver and I'll tell you how I arrived at this conclusion.
i wear gloves to keep my hands warm and if my head's cold i wear a hat, my feet are usually warm, i wear a coat. a few years ago i wouldnt be seen dead in a hat, it didnt make much difference then.

The best way to stay warm is to turn up the heating and put extra covers on the bed and stay in the bed. But chance would be a fine thing eh?
