How to be an intelligence analyst?

How much would an entry-level intelligence analyst make in the DC area?

  • I'm wondering how much an entry-level/Junior intelligence analyst will make if he works for a private government contractor company in Washington DC or Northern VA? Assuming the applicant just graduated from college with a Bachelor's and has the TS clearance and intelligence analyst training courtesy of the United States Army but with no experience. Thanks alot.

  • Answer:

I am an analyst and work at Ft. Belvoir. Although I can't tell you what I make due to I'm a contractor I can tell you a wide range of what I have heard/know. I know depending which post, company, level, job, section you get into it can vary. In NOVA (Northern Virginia) it can be anywhere from $50,000. to $100,000. I know that is a large gap, but I can tell you it just depends on where and what you do. With a degree you are more likely to see near $80,000. Of course depending what your specialty is you might even make a few grand more than $100K. Good luck, and make sure your clearance hasn't expired due to inactivity, 2 years of inactivity, and for a TS you need a poly and 5 year background check every 5 years.
