Where is the food trap?

Whats the best most iresistable bait food to use in a rat trap?

  • I have a couple of really smart rats in my basement. They are not going for the cheddar cheese. Also they are eating the cheese without setting off the trap.

  • Answer:

I just had an exterminator come in today and dispose of a few in my attic, when he set the traps up again I asked him what he used and he said he's been using payday candy bars for years.... good luck hope you catch them! If you don't find where they are coming in from, you'll never get rid of them. We found a hole that they had chewed into the side of our house and into our attic they went..grrrrrrrrrr

Peanut Butter is great for baiting a trap but if you want to keep but if you really want to get rid of them find some peppermint oil (usually can be found at a pharmacy) and put it on cotton balls and throw the cotton balls around your house it will drive them away and keep them away because mice are allergic to peppermint, it keeps them away very well unless you start to have a drought in your area because they will seek shelter at all costs! You have to spread the peppermint about every three months just to be safe. Good luck

I used peanut butter which was the best lure bait...but I had problems with them licking off the peanut butter without setting off the trap....so I got an old piece of sponge...smeared it with peanut butter....ran a sewing thread through it and strapped it to the tripping device. They never took another piece of bait without being caught.

from my opinion i believe that it will be cube shaped cheese. If not try some cheese that are melted and put it it near a fan(the smell will surely attract those mice you have). Trust me this really works

Peanut Butter is what is recommended One more thing, tie some string to the traps so they don't crawl off into a corner somewhere and die. This will stop Maggots from covering your basement. Tie the string to something on the other end of course. Byee

Peanut butter is recommended by experts and worked for me. Though plugging up the holes has actually eliminated the problem for over a year now.
