How to kill mites for good?

Will moth balls kill mites?

• A very sudden infestation of a form of white mites has occured in my basement. I first noticed them when I picked my laptop off the floor and saw dozens of them all over it. That is when I noticed them on pretty much anything that was on the floor. My basement is a living area, bed and all and I am dying to get rid of them. So far it doesn't seem like they are anywhere else and I would like to keep it that way. I put moth balls all over the floor and plan on leaving it like that for a few days. Is this a possible method to kill them or is it not aggressive enough? I think they are mold mites after looking through pictures. They are extremely tiny and look like moving dust. I had to take a picture and zoom in to see and definition. If this won't work, any inexpensive idea that will?

  yes and no..if the active inexpedient is paradichlorbenzine, this not only repels but kills insects, but just placing it about the floor may or may not kill your pests...probably springtails or pscocids rather than mites
