What some good all year vegetables to grow in a rainy northern climate?
-
I live in Vancouver so we get a lot of rain, cold, and some good days of sunshine. I was wondering what are some vegetables that are suitable for this climate that I could also grow year round. I was thinking about potatoes, cucumbers, garlic, and onions. However, this is just a guess. Thanks for any help you can give.

Answer:
Garlic & onions, yes. Make sure they have well-drained soil. If you plant them in a soggy place, they will rot. Ditto with potatoes. A raised bed may be in order. Cucumbers and potatoes cannot take freezing temps, so don't grow them when you're expecting frost in the next 3 months. You might also try kale, chard, lettuce, spinach, radishes, cabbage, broccoli and other "cold weather" crops.
