What paint for tile hearth?

What paint should I use to paint ceramic tile?

  • I have a kitchen with ceramic tile that is a sick grey color. I've remodeled the kitchen and the grey ceramic tile floor just doesn't go well. I'd like to paint it but have no idea what paint to use or if it is practical to even paint it. Is it possible or do I just need to live with it?

  • Answer:

Getting good adhesion to ceramic tile with paint is VERY difficult. Generally it will come out looking bad. My best recommendation would be to make due with it. If you absolutely must paint it, your best bet would be to use this product: http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGResourceCenter.asp?sn=pro&pid=7 It is specially designed for tub and tile. I believe you can get it in a tint base and get it tinted to whatever color you please.

Epoxy coating works best, but it's still only temporary. I'd suggest redoing the grout with a different color. That could make all the difference.

dont waste your time going for b&q crap, prime tiles first, then cover it with dulux satinwood, its the best

Ceramic tile paint. Yes they do sell it- just go to your local DIY store- Focus, Homebase, B&Q whatever and just ask for it :)
