Damage vocal chords??

about a year ago i caught a bad cold and ended up loseing my voice. It took months to get better but when i was fully better and could talk again, people said that my voice had changed. i use to have a high pitched voice now its pretty low. i know ive left this late to discuss but have i damaged my vocal chords and can i ever get them fixed if i have

Your vocal chords are like muscles, they can stretch but normally go back into place. But if we are talking about a year without reverting back to its original state, well then it kind of sounds like its the way it is now for good, Im sorry :(
