How large are the typical gallstones?

I;m diabetic, plus i have gallstones,,pain?

• hi i'm a mother and 30years old. During a pelvic scan i had done 2 years ago i was told i have gallstones. I've been to my doctor a couple of times since with pain in upper right hand side of abdo and she has given me painkillers to take when the pain comes on and told me that it is because of the gallstones. I have also been diagnosed with diabetes about 4 months ago ( type 2)- both types run in my family, father type 1 and mother type 2...The gp is going to start me on meds after christmas as a diet control has not worked of as yet and my sugars still remain high. Anyway over the last month or 2 i've noticed that i've been getting more frequent pain in upper right abdo,,,not very strong pain that has me doubled over but a niggling annoying pain that comes on after i eat..Is this dangerous to leave gallstones untreated, a friend of mine is currently in hospital with pancreaitis brought on by untreated gallstones, and has been told she will probably spend the next couple of months in hospital. This has kind of scared me. And also i know type 2 diabetes is because your pancreas doesn't produce enough insulin in your body, would that have any effect on the gallstones. Sorry if question doesn't make much sense, try and answer or give any info if you can thanks...

  I do know that a high fiber diet with lots of water will help with pain from gallstones, I have had gallstones for 10 years now, as long as I eat lots of fiber and a low fat diet and drink water with meals my gallbladder very seldom hurts, sometimes your posture sitting in a chair can cause you pain in the gallbladder, so watch how you sit,,I am not sure about sugar, but I do know that my diet works for gallbladders,, good luck, mine was hurting till my doc told me I needed to keep it as long as possible and I needed to change my diet..
