What does blood in the stool mean?

What does blood in the stool and black stool mean?

  • I have been bleeding when I go poo for months but it was like small streaks. I researched and saw that it was normal and ignored it. Lately however, I have been losing a lot more blood. Sometimes when I try to poo it sounds like I'm peeing from the blood hitting the water. I am cramping up now and constantly hurting. I'm exhausted. I used to think I was tired from being a single mother going through terrible 2s that works and goes to college full time. But now I am unbelievably tired. Not to mention now when I go, if I don't bleed my stool is a black color and seems to have mucus with it. What could this mean. I have scheduled an appointment with my doctor but I am curious to know something now. HELP

  • Answer:

You could have internal bleeding, hence the black stool, or it could be caused by what you have eaten. If you are like me, I often eat a lot of blueberries, beets, dark chocolate, etc. and they always turn my stool black. As far as the red bleeding you may have internal hemmoroids, as well as IBS. So an appointment with the doctor will help answer all your questions. Good Luck.
