  • Answer:

Sorry, no other good method besides weight lifting. If you have angina then you should discuss any exercise program with your physician prior to beginning. Weight lifting increases the afterload of the heart, which is the force the heart must overcome to eject blood out. This does not lead to any problems if a person is perfectly healthy. This can cause serious problems in someone with a heart condition like angina. Therefore you should be asking your physician which exercise is appropriate for you. There are cardiopulmonary rehabilitation programs for people with heart conditions to assist them in learning to exercise and build up endurance. You may benefit from this so ask your doctor if it is available where you are at. Good luck.

try power lifting. You typically do 3-5 reps and take like 5 minute breaks and lifting heavy is a great way to build solid mass and isnt to taxing cardiovascularly. I've read a few things saying creatine is good for heart problems some too. Wanted to add...if you go to the site www.massmonsterz.com and sign up (its a forum) the boards owner had heart problems and he has rebounded and lifts weights. Would do you well to talk to him.

for mass building less is more, use heavy weights for low reps. pick them up slow and make sure to breath in and out, then sit down.
