What are some of the highest paying jobs in medicine?

How am I going to pay for my daughters medicine?

  • My 8 year old daughter is a Type 1 diabetic.She was diagnosed in Sept.2008.This year is a new year and we just started to figure out our budget.The problem is our insurance. My insurance mandatory me to do the mail order for her insulin.And my insurance pays up to $4200.00 and then i have to pay the next $4200. out of my pocket before the insurance kicks back in and pays 80% up to $4200. and then it goes back to paying 100%.So right now I get her medicine and supplies free untill we reach $4200. and that will not be long.Then I have to pay the next $4200. out of my pocket.That's $900. a month i have to pay and we do not have it.We are broke now paying our bills and keeping healthy food in the house,gas in our car.And I can not get any financial help because we make to much money but all our money goes to bills (rent,groceries,electric,gas,phone,)As of Jan.1 2009-today the insurance company has paid $3200.00 that means they have $1000.00 left they will pay .Then I start paying out of my pocket and that will be $900.00 + more a month coming out of me ntil I reach $4200. and then the insurance will pay 80%. She needs her medicine to survive but how I am going to come up with a extra $900.00 a month.And finding a another job right now so I can work 2 jobs is out of the question with no one hiring and laying people off.I went to social services years ago to get assistance when me and my husband seperated and theyld not help me because I made to much money and now i make more then I did then but still not enough to pay for everything.Me and my husband are back together but with both ou incomes we do not have the money.I am going to try and apply for medicaid for just her and see if we can get it now since her condition is considered chronic disease.But with everyone applying for assistance right now because of the loss of jobs it might be a while before I hear anything.So What am I to do?

Talk to your doctor and have them write some of the med companies. Most companies have programs that will allow people to get meds free or at reduced cost. They dont really advertise it though, and it will require the doc's cooperation to fill out the forms and write letters. You should also look at AstraZeneca to see if you qualify for their programs, but their income requirements are low enough that many 2 income families would not qualify. Although, looking through their requirements it looks like they wont help if you have other insurance. If all that fails.... keep fighting. Go to the community for help. Are you a member of a church or civic group that can help you out with this?

I agree with midnight. Also, alot of the dr. offices can get samples from their distributors to give out (the insulin is a normal size vial), so check with them to see if they have any or can get any. If you have a health department in your area check with them because they have programs for children and you may be able to get her insulin and syringes through them. You can also check with the maker of the type of insulin she is on to see if they have a program to help you out with her insulin. Talk to the doctor's office where you take her and maybe they know of another group that can be of help to you. I know it is stressful to worry about where you will get your next penny to put towards medicine but through it all take a few minutes to pray and ask God to help you to find a way and I promise you that he works miracles.
