Is there a better material for earring protective sleeves used against nickel allergies?

Didn't used to have dog allergies but do now- will they go away?

  • When my husband wasn't allergic to cats, rabbits, or dogs, around ages 8 to 13. He lived with cats and a rabbit, and visited his Grandma's often and had no allergy symptoms. Then he was around nothing but a poodle for years. He was not allergic at all to the poodle. About 6 years later he was around other pets again and had allergies. Now, at 22, he has severe allergies to dogs, bad allergies to cats, and mild allergies to rabbits. With rabbits he gets red eyes, itchiness of eyes and nose, and runny nose/sneezing. Some wheezing. But with dogs and cats he gets swollen lips/face, severe itchiness, watery eyes, sneezing. The only exception being my mother's lhasapoo, which he had no allergies to. I already know which breeds and hypoallergenic and such. I don't want suggestions on dog breeds. Please also don't say there is no true hypoallergenic dog cause you'll sound stupid to me since poodles and lhasas are both hypoallergenic and he doesn't have allergies with them. All I want to know is if it is possible to build up a tolerance again, medicine alternatives, etc, to be able to live with a dog other than a hypoallergenic breed.

  • Answer:

The only way I know for him to build up a tolerance is to go to the allergist and get desensitization shots. After several years of shots, he should not be allergic to dogs or cats. I don't know if they have shots for rabbit allergies.
