The Acai Berries Diet?
-
im 13 and i really want to lose weight. ive tried it all. working out, eating right, drinking a lot of water, it just dosnt seem to work. i want to get AMAZINGLY skinny by summer, but its already April and ive lost like maybe 2 pounds. :/ right now i weigh 140 lbs, and would like to weigh like 115. :( i came across acai berries and heard they work for losing weight. so if i drank acai berry juice while working out would it help me? or just eating plain acai berries? im not interested in taking the pills, like i said i am only 13. please help. thank you! :)

Answer:
The people answering that acai is a scam are not educated. Acai is a wonderful superfruit full of antioxidants, heart-healthy omegas and dietary fiber to fill you up. When consumed with a healthy diet, acai can help you lose weight, but it won't make you magically burn weight. It just makes you feel full and gives you one of the most efficient, nutritional sources of energy so you don't have so many food cravings. But do avoid the pills..they are not worth the value and especially avoid those selling acai as only a weight loss solution. Also avoid the juices which are overprocessed and mostly just sugar water. If you want to get the real stuff that they eat regularly in Brazil, then look for the frozen acai berry purees to get the full nutrition of acai. It is a fragile fruit and the frozen purees are never reprocessed and repacked like the juices and capsules.

No, there is no medical evidence to support the claims they make. Don't waste your money, fresh locally bought berries are just as good, but none of them promote weight loss (unless you eat them instead of candy). At 13 the only safe way to lose weight is with the supervision of a doctor and/or dietitian. Safer to aim at not putting on more weight. Cut right back on cookies, candy, added sugar, fried and fast food. Fill up on whole grains (bread, cereal), lean protein, dairy, fruit and vegetables. Good snacks, dried fruit, nuts, yogurt, a banana.
