What's it like to be a ballerina?

Whats a workout i should do every morning to help me become a ballerina?

  • i do ballet twice a week, but what should i do as a workout in the morning to help me become a ballerina? what should i work on?

  • Answer:

Work on your turns!!! Turns are like GOLD in the ballet world. Left - right pirouettes, en dehor, en dedans, fuetes... you cannot do enough of these. I am incredibly serious. Also work on a straight vertical jump so when you get partnered up with a male dancer you can jump really high to help him lift you. A note here...if you expect to go anywhere in the ballet world, you need WAY more than 2 classes/week - try at least 6. 15-20 hours dancing... again, I am serious here.

Workouts aren't going to do it. At your age, you need to be in dance class at least 15 hours a week and with an excellent dance teacher (one who has had a professional performing career) in order to even hope for a performing career in ballet.

umm....you probably should do muscle things like crunches and sit ups and stuff, but i've heard if you stretch in the morning you can tear muscle easily. maybe wait till afternoon to do that after a warm up.

Check out the New York City Ballet exercise dvd's. There are 2 of them, and they give tips and training exercises in their workouts.
