How long to season a humidor?

How long will cigars last in a simple humidor, with no one tending to the humidor?

• My friend and i joined the marines together he's always told me he wanted to smoke a cigar, so I'm getting him a small humidor and 2 cigars for us to smoke when we get back from boot camp, problem is boot camp is three months long and no one will be tending to the humidor, is that even a problem? do humidors need maintenance?

• Answer:

  You might want to load up the humidifier in the humidor with filtered water. Also place the humidor in a humid place like a basement. Three months of not attending a humidor is not too much time. Another route would be to add one more humidifier. There's usually a smoke shop around to buy another pair of cigars from too once done with boot camp. Semper Fi and thanks for you service !
