How long to season a humidor?

How long can cigars last outside of a humidor? If you don't have one how can I keep them fresh? I bought

  • cigars for my boyfriend and we are waiting on his humidor... has yet to arrive. Worried! Thanks in advance for your help.

take a mason jar and put a moist piece of cork in the bottom then put in the cigars and screw the lid back on..its not top notch but its better than nothing. real cigar smokers will use a cedar jewelry box and cork..as for time out, they can dry out quickly in an arid environment.
