Should schools have a dress codes for their students??

    Certain tenets should be in place to provide wise choice options. I do not believe in uniforms...this discredits individualism and reflects a disdain for diversity & free-will choice--heavy on the control...prisoners wear uniforms for this purpose. In support of an attire choice appropriate for the position intended...students are being prepared for "outside" opportunities...dressing for the adventure is key in our society. Clean, conservative wears should be expected in a multi-faceted atmosphere so that all involved have equal opportunity to focus on the primary purposes of their being there. I believe that this simple policy still provides each with personal choice of style, as well as the chance to act in respect for themselves & their peers. MPO, of course!!!

Yes they shoould. Kids will wear a bunch of crap if you let them. Should it be shirts/ties and dress slacks? No. Jeans and t-shirts ,etc. No vulgar, profanity, innuendo,or violence. No sharp, polity, studded or other. It is a free country but we need to teach respect and that includes respectful clothing and hygeine.

The more standardization within the clothing the better the learning. Particularly within inner city schools, where kids have to worry about being beat up for their clothers or shoes.

I guess I never use to agree with having a dress code for students, but the more and more, I watch all the kids grow up, I think they really need to have a better dress code. I walked into a high school one day, and a girl had a rip in her pants where her *** was hanging out. I think they should make the kids dress more appropriate!

I used to and i find it's harder to put on normal clothes and pick those out than just putting on a uniform. and if they're nice, i completely agree. It does draw attention from something else than the work and you can't really personalize uniforms so there is no competition!

Yes, and secularisation is also a good idea, in general it promotes students of different faiths and backgrounds to 'mingle' and helps to stop them segregating themselves.

I have always thought uniforms were a good idea. When I was in HS a lot of people were judge based on how they dressed... not everyone can afford the name brand clothes like abercrombie and Hollister. I just think it would be easier for the students if their were unifroms, then you would hopefully be judged based on personality more than appeirence!

Yes...my daughter's school has one and they still look raggy to me. My mother thought my daughter dressed so common until she went to the mall and saw all the teen girls there. She hugged her granddaughter and thanked her for how well she does dress.

If kids wear clothes that are too revealing, it will take the attention off of the teacher and onto the child so yes i think that schools should have a dress code but dot get too drastic to make the kids wear uniforms
