I am currently a sophomore (10th grade). Next year I will be taking the IB diploma. I wanted to know if you are taking it or you have taken it before, how much homework do you get? Have you ever had to pull an all-nighter? Here are the classes I will be taking: IB Math HL (pre-cal HL and then Calculus HL senior year) IB Biology HL IB History of Americas HL IB English HL IB Film HL IB Spanish SL Theory of Knowledge (1 semester) As of now, there are the classes that have been confirmed.

Answer:
I am currently in the 2nd year of the IB. Let me just start with that we are both lucky to be in this program. Did you know there are only 900,000 IB students around the world out of billions of other people? It has really opened doors to a lot of people, but only if they worked hard. I take: Math Studies History SL and HL Biology SL (I used to take Biology HL but it's too hard) English A1 Chemistry SL Spanish B TOK (1st and 2nd year) In the first year, classes are normal. You don't really get stressed out that much. But let me say this, and please remember this, DO ALL THE WORK THAT YOU CAN IN THE 1st YEAR!!! Trust me, it'll go so much smoother the second year if you are not as busy. You don't want to have to do your extended essay, internal and external assessments, your TOK essay, Extended Essay, and on top of that, studying for your final exams now do you? The IB programme is a college preparatory course. It's designed to push you, and give you lots of homework. But if you're smart, which everyone is capable of being, you won't let it get to you. Organize yourself WELL. Time management is crucial as well. And most importantly, TRY!!! You'll see that these 2 years will fly by. Also, you won't have pull an-all nighter if you organize yourself like I said. Be smart, and try your best from the very beginning. The IB is for you, not for someone else. In the end, getting 24 -29 points gets you in a not so good college. 30 - 37, then you can start thinking a bit higher, and 38 - 45 (or 42 - 45 points, I'm not sure), you can get into Ivy League type colleges. And remember, the IB is taken all around the world. And it actually does matter where you attend college. Hope I helped. :-) Good luck! You can do it!
